Avalanche In Tangdhar Sector Of Jammu & Kashmir Kills Two Local Laborers
Tangdhar, Kashmir, India – On March 27, 2016 two people were killed in an avalanche near Sadhna Pass and the Line of Control in the Kupwara district of northern Kashmir. The victims were civilians who were working as Beacon laborers with the Border Road Organization to clear snow from the road when the avalanche hit.

The two avalanche victims were buried under the snow at 3000m NastaChhun Pass in the Shams Bari range of the Tangdhar Sector. Both victims were rescued from the avalanche and transported to the hospital where they died from their injuries. The authorities had issued a “medium danger avalanche warning” for areas above 3000 meters in Kupwara, Bandipora, Baramulla, Ganderbal, and Kargil districts of Kashmir.
The victims were identified as Manzoor Ahmad Cheechi, 25, and Muhammad Rafiq Cheechi, 27.
