Tochuhorn, Switzerland – On April 2, 2018 two ski tourers were caught in an avalanche on the north ridge of Tochuhorn in Simplon in Brig in Valais, Switzerland. One of the skiers suffered serious injuries and died in the hospital in Bern the next day.
The accident occurred when a group of 5 ski tourers were ascending the Tochuhorn via the north ridge. Before the summit, two of the skiers were caught in an avalanche and dragged 150 meters.
The 26-year-old victim is from the canton of Friborg in Switzerland.
