Avalanche Kills Skier On Moncucco In Val d’Ossola In Italy

Val d’Ossola, Italy – On March 16, 2018 a 60-year-old ski tourer was caught, buried, and killed in an avalanche on 1843-meter Moncucco while the victim was skiing off piste near Domobianco Ski Resort in the Alpe Lusentino near Domodossolain the Val d’Ossola of Italy.

There were several mountain rescuers in the area when the accident occurred. These first responders were able to located and recover the victim from under the snow in less than 15 minutes. The skier was transported to the hospital via helicopter where he eventually succumbed to his injuries that night.

The victim was identified as 60-year-old Luciano Falcini.
