Salzburg, Austria – On Saturday, January 5, 2019 two hunters on snowshoes were reported missing. On January 7, 2019 the 28-year-old man and 23-year-old woman were located under avalanche debris at about 900 meters near the Schindlmaisalm near the town of Abtenau in the district of Salzburg in Austria.
The couple did not have avalanche safety equipment on them. They were found buried about two meters deep and about 20 meters apart. They were located by search teams after authorities located the man’s cell phone.
