Avalanche Kills Ski Tourer In Val d’Es-cha In Grisons, Switzerland

Grisons, Switzerland – On January 13, 2019 a 27-year-old Slovak ski tourer was killed in an avalanche while skiing between Zuoz in the direction of Val d’Es-cha in Grisons, Switzerland.

The solo skier was reported missing on Sunday, January 13. The victim was located by rescuers on January 15 when rescuers used avalanche transceivers to located the victim in debris at 2200 meters near Val d’Es-cha. The body was not recovered until January 16.

SLF.ch reports that one person was caught, buried, and killed in an avalanche on a northeast aspect at 2270 meters in Val d’es-can in Grisons, Switzerland on 2019-01-13. The avalanche danger was 3/5.
