Off Piste Skier Killed In Avalanche Near Mittelallalin in Switzerland
Valais, Switzerland – At approximately 9:45AM on Sunday, February 21, 2016 an avalanche caught a group of six off piste skiers who were skiing from near the Mittelallalin summit to Saas-Almagell in the Valais canton of Switzerland.

Four of the skiers were able to self rescue. Two others were airlifted to different hospitals. One 36-year-old male from Valais died of his injuries once he reached the hospital in Bern. Another skier, 49, was flown to a hospital near Visp.
The Mittelallalin is located in the Pennine Alps of Switzerland. At 11,339′, it is home to the world’s highest revolving restaurant. See a panorama of the view here.
