Avalanche Kills 2 Snowboarders Near Bansko, Bulgaria

Bansko, Bulgaria – On Friday, January 11, 2019 two snowboarders were killed in an avalanche in in the Banderishki Chutes the Pirin Mountains near the ski resort of Bansko in Bulgaria.

The accident occurred mid-day while a group of 4 snowboarders were riding in the trees outside of the Bansko ski area. The first two snowboarders on the slope triggered the avalanche. They were caught and carried over 400 meters. The other two snowboarders alerted authorities.

Rescuers responded to the accident site, but unfortunately the two snowboarders did not survive. Btvnovinite.bg reports that the victims were 33 and 34 years old. For photos and more info, visit Btvnovinite.bg
