Avalanche Kills Schoolboy While Sledding After School In Bashkortostan, Russia

The avalanche occurred when a 10-year-old boy and his two 7-year-old friends went sledding after school. The group headed to a mountain about 600 meters from their village named Alsyn-bye. The children climbed approximately 30-meters up the slope when they were caught in the avalanche.

One child was caught and buried in the slide. The others escaped the avalanche and notified family and rescuers. Relatives responded and dug the child out. Unfortunately the boy did not survive.
