Chateau d’Oex, Switzerland – On Sunday, February 25, 2018 a 55-year-old Swiss ski tourer was killed in an avalanche on Le Rocher du Midi in the Bernese Alps near Chateau d’Oex in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.

The avalanche caught the skier and her companion at approximately 13:00. Both were swept into rocks. The 61-year-old skier was injured and the 55-year-old Swiss woman did not survive. The injured individual alerted authorities and rescuers responded to the scene via helicopter.
