Damuls, Austria – On January 6, 2019 a 32-year-old skier was killed in an avalanche in Damuls/Mellau in Vorarlberg, Austria.

The skier was initially only partially buried to his knees by the slide. A second avalanche then fully buried the man. The victim’s companion initiated a rescue and quickly located his partner using appropriate avalanche safety equipment. Unfortunately the man did not survive.
