High Tatras, Slovakia – On Wednesday, December 6, 2017 a 30-year-old Slovakian ski tourer was killed in an avalanche on the Zbojnícky spád in the Veľkej Studena dolina (Great Cold Valley) in the High Tatras of Slovakia.

Rescuers responded to the scene and began to search for the skier. After about 2.5 hours, the victim was found under 1.5 to 2 meters of snow. According to numerous sources, the victim was not wearing the appropriate avalanche equipment.
