Avalanche Kills Freerider On Mount Izraski Golets In Kemerovo, Russia


Izraski Golets, Russia – On Saturday, February 3, 2018 a 40-year-old freerider was caught, buried, and killed in an avalanche while descending Mount Izraski Golets near Silven Station in Mezhdurechensk in the Kemrovo Region of Russia.

The victim was riding in the area with 4 friends that met via social media. They arrived in the area on February 2 and were camping on the winter road. The group was skiing/riding in the nearby mountains. On February 3, the victim was caught in an avalanche while descending a slope around 13:00. The victim was caught in the slide after riding roughly 10 meters on to the slope.

The group was skiing one at at time and were equipped with radios. The victim and his friends had the proper safety equipment. His friends were able to locate and recover him. Unfortunately, the man did not survive.
