Kahramanmaraş, Turkey – On January 17, 2019 a villager was killed in an avalanche in the Akdere neighborhood in the Çağlayancerit district in the Kahramanmaraş province of Turkey.
The victim went to check the water line near his home when he was caught, buried, and killed in the slide. His son alerted authorities. Rescuers responded, but were unable to save the man.
Sozcu.com.tr identified the victim as 50-year-old Ramazan Sakallı.
