Lowari Pass, Pakistan – On Thursday, February 1, 2018 an avalanche killed a man and his son near Lowari Pass near Chitral in Pakistan. The Lowari Pass connects Chitral with Dir in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa region of Pakistan.
The victims were on their way to work on the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited’s (PTCL) tower at the top of the pass when they were caught by the avalanche. A 3rd individual was able to escape the avalanche and alert authorities.
As of February 5, rescuers continue to search for the victims under the debris.
