Haute-Savoie, France – On Sunday, February 12, 2017 a skier was seriously injured in an avalanche while returning from the Pointe du Merdassier (2313 meters) on the Aravis massif near La Clusaz in the Haute-Savoie in France.
At around 1pm the skier was caught in an avalanche while skiing off piste. They were dragged 300-400 meters and were buried near a group of trees. Three hikers in the area located the skier at 1700 meters using avalanche transceivers.
