
High Tatras, Slovakia – On Saturday, December 22, 2018 an avalanche killed a 39-year-old Slovakian in Soliskite Gorge in the Mlynicka Valley in the High Tatras Mountains of Slovakia.
The slide ran about 300 meters. Authorities were alerted and rescuers responded to the scene. The victim did not have avalanche gear and was eventually found using search dogs and probes.

Lawis.at reports that this avalanche occurred on 2018-12-22 at 11:50 in VT Mlynicka dolina Soliskovy zlab in Slovakia. They report a Lat/Long of 49.1512° N / 20.0408° E which is a 40 degree east aspect at 1800 meters. The size 1 slab avalanche measured 400 meters long, 10 meters wide, and 10 centimeters deep. Three people were involved. One was buried and killed. This slide occurred during the descent and the victims were not wearing standard safety equipment. See Lawis.at for more details.
