Revelstoke, British Columbia – At approximately 1pm on Thursday, May 5, 2017 a massive avalanche tumbled down the Greenslide avalanche path on Mount Cartier, about 15 km south of Revelstoke, British Columbia.
The avalanche covered over 100 meters of the road, Airport Way, near the Columbia River. Leaving people stranded. Police are unsure if anyone was caught in the avalanche. Experts predict it will take at least 3 days to remove the snow from the road.
According to the RevelstokeReview.com, “The Greenslide avalanche path is one of the biggest in southern B.C. and descends more than 2,000 vertical metres from the top of Mount Cartier to the Columbia River.”‘
