Avalanche Kills Snowmobiler On Mount Leidy SW Of Togwogtee Pass In Wyoming

Togwogtee Pass, Wyoming – On Wednesday, January 9, 2019 a snowmobiler was caught, buried, and killed in an avalanche on Mount Leidy southwest of Togwogtee Pass in Wyoming.

This avalanche accident occurred while a group of 3 snowmobilers was riding on Mount Leidy. The victim’s snowmobile was buried fully except for one handle sticking out. The man was not wearing an avalanche transceiver.

Authorities were notified and search and rescue responded. Before SAR arrived, witnesses located the man 10 feet uphill of his sled using probes. These rescuers used shovels to extract the man who was buried 4 feet deep. Despite rescue efforts, the victim was declared dead at the scene.

JHNewsAndGuide.com identified the victim as 29-year-old Cody Christopherson of Wisconsin.
