Val d’Aosta, Italy – On April 7, 2018 two skiers were killed in an avalanche and two others were wounded near the Arbolle refuge on the Col Chamole above Lago de Chamole near the Pila ski area in Val d’Aosta in Italy.

The off piste skiers were taking part in an advanced ski mountaineering course with Cai Pietramora School (Montagna.tv) when the avalanche occurred. There were about 20 skiers in the area when the slide happened. At least five skiers were caught in the avalanche that measured 200-250 meters across and 600 meters long.
Witnesses alerted authorities and rescuers responded to the scene. They located two bodies – one was buried in snow and one had fallen into the frozen lake. Rescuers transported the two wounded skiers to the hospital.
IlRestodelcarlino.it identified the victims as 28-year-old Roberto Bucci and 52-year-old Carlo Call’Osso. An investigation has been opened.
