
Piz Galin, Italy – On March 23, 2018 a 61-year-old skier was killed in an avalanche above the village of Andalo on Piz Galin in the Pagnella Group in the Brenta Dolomites in Trentino, Italy.
The victim had gone out for an afternoon solo ski of Piz Galin. When he did not return, his family alerted authorities. Rescuers located the victim’s car at the trailhead in Val Biole. They searched the mountains late into the night. In the morning the skier’s body was located buried about a meter deep in avalanche debris below the summit.
IlDolomiti.it identified the victim as 61-year-old Claudio Pallanch from Fai della Paganella.
