Rasht, Tajikistan – On Tuesday, January 10, 2017 an avalanche claimed the life of a 22-year-old man while he was collecting firewood. The avalanche fatality occurred in the Rasht district in eastern Tajikistan.
The incident occurred at approximately 9am, when two men, 22 and 25, were gathering firewood in an area called Sari Obpar. One man managed to escaped the avalanche, while the other was buried and killed.
