Avalanche Kills Snowmobiler Near Reas Peak In The Centennial Range In Idaho


Centennial Range, Idaho – On January 10, 2018 a 36-year-old snowmobiler was killed in an avalanche near Reas Peak in the Centennial Range in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest near Island Park, Idaho.

The victim was riding with friends in the Mount Jefferson area of Fremont County (near the Idaho/Montana border) when the avalanche occurred around 17:00. His partners found the snowmobile, but were unable to locate the rider.

Authorities were notified and the victim was located and extracted by SAR the next day on 1/11.

EastIdahoNews.com identified the victim as Adam Wayne Andersen of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

This is the 5th avalanche fatality in the US during the 2017-2018 season.
