Vorarlberg, Austria – On Sunday, January 6, 2019 a 26-year-old German skier was killed in an avalanche near the Diademskopf ski area near Shoppernau in Vorarlberg, Austria.
The accident occurred while two skiers were off piste. One skier was partially buried. Both skiers had avalanche rescue gear.
The victim’s companion located and extracted the skier, but unfortunately the individual did not survive.
The avalanche danger was rated at 4.
