Flenjaeggi, Norway – At around 2 PM on Sunday April 24, 2016, Benjamin Hjort, a 37-year-old photographer and teacher, was killed in an avalanche on the west side of Flenjaeggi in Aurland in Sogn og Fjordane in Norway.

Hjort was skiing with two other backcountry ski partners when an avalanche released above the group. The avalanche was 30 to 40 meters wide. Hjort was dug up by his ski partners. Sea King helicopters transported Hjort to Haukeland University Hospital where Hjort died of his injuries.
