Avalanche Kills Ski Tourer On Kehlstein In Berchtesgaden In Germany (UPDATED)


Berchtesgaden, Germany – On Sunday, November 19, 2017 a 50-year-old female ski tourer was killed in an avalanche on the Kehlstein in Berchtesgaden in Bavaria in Germany.

The local skier was traveling from Ofnerboden towards Kehlstein when the avalanche occurred near the Buswendeplatte on the northeast side of the mountain around 1630 meters. The woman was dragged 50 meters toward a cliff and then dragged 100 meters through steep, rocky terrain.

Authorities were alerted immediately. Other ski tourers and mountain rescuers responded to the scene, but were unable to revive the woman.
