Avalanche Kills Army Major In Sonamarg In Kashmir, India

Kashmir, India – At approximately 5:45am on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 an avalanche struck an army camp near the Srinagar-Leh national highway in the Sonamarg area of the Ganderbal district of Jammu & Kashmir in India.

Seven soldiers were rescued, but Major Amit Sagar of the 115 Battalion and the High Altitude Warfare School was killed in the avalanche.

This avalanche struck within hours of the avalanche that killed four civilians in Bandipora in Kashmir.
