Avalanche Triggered By Ski Patrol Hits House In Alpine Meadows

After California got walloped with over 3 feet of snow overnight, the Alpine Meadows ski patrol mitigated the hazards. After communicating with Steven Siig, a local Alpine Meadows resident, patrol triggered a slide that ultimately broke down the door of the Siig’s home. The house has been hit by avalanche 3 times in the last 12 years. Glad everyone is ok.

As you can image the image of snow breaking down the door has gone viral:

The homeowners knew the avalanche was coming, since it was set by the Alpine Meadows ski patrol to reduce the avalanche danger. They just didn’t know they’d be buried by it.
