Uri, Switzerland – On Thursday, January 3, 2019 a 43-year-old woman was caught, buried, and killed in an avalanche in the Hoch Fulen/Griesstal/Rotgrad area of the Glarus Alps near Silenen in Uri, Switzerland.
The avalanche caught two ski tourers around 14:00. It partially buried one skier and fully buried the other. The partially buried skier was able to free himself and was uninjured. With the help of other parties they located and extracted the fully buried individual.
