Vrancea Mountains, Romania – On Saturday, March 3, 2018 a 37-year-old female hiker was killed in an avalanche in the Tiştiţa Gorge in the Vrancea Mountains near Lepsa, Romania.

The avalanche surprised a group of tourists while they are on a hike in the area. The slide occurred in an forested area and consisted of wet and heavy snow.
Two tourists were caught in the slide. Other members of the group alerted authorities. One person was rescued immediately. Rescuers found the victim after an hour of searching. The woman was located in the Tisita river.
Observator.tv identified the victim as Malcea Claudia from Bucharest.
