Backcountry Skier Missing Since February Located Near Whitefish, Montana

Whitefish, Montana – On February 17, 2018, 62-year-old Dr. Jonathan Togerson went missing while backcountry skiing near Whitefish Mountain Resort in northwestern Montana.

After extensive searches, Togerson was finally located on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Search and rescue crews located Togerson in “an avalanche deposition zone on the north side of the mountain” (Kpax.com).

According to the sheriff’s department, “It appears he was caught in a small avalanche on February 17” (Missoulian.com).
