- Video: New World Record Cliff Jump Set Over Waterfall at 195′ – Snowbrains.com – Laso Schaller launched a 195′ (58.8 m) cliff into 26′ of water at the Cascata del Salto in Switzerland. He threaded the needle and hit the water at 75 MPH (123 km/hr). Insane.
- Skier Matt Heffernan Remembered After Tragic Cliff Jumping Death – Teton Gravity Research – Matt Heffernan died after attempting a 60 foot double back flip in to a reservoir in Utah. RIP.
- Bruce Tremper Announces Retirement From Utah Avalanche Center – A Mountain Journey – After 29 years as the director of the UAC, Tremper will retire. He will be replaced by Mark Staples.
- Western Wildfires: Soldiers To Help Battle Infernos – CNN.com – The Western US is burning. Approximately 200 soliders will join 25,000 firefighters to fight blazes across 10 western states. Find out if there are fires near you here.
- Plague Found In Yosemite Squirrels – Outside Online – A few weeks ago, a child left YNP with the plague. Now two squirrels have died of plague near Tuolumne Meadows Campground. Yikes!
- First Wolfpack Found In California In Nearly A Century – LA Times – Officials have identified a pack of gray wolves with two adults and five pups in Northern California. Wolves are currently on the endangered species list in California, so this is big news.
- Patagonia To Cease Purchasing Wool From Supplier After PETA Video Exposes Animal Cruelty – SNEWS – The Patagonia brand dumped a wool supplier in Argentina after this video from PETA.
