Searches For Backcountry Skier Liam Walsh Are Unsuccessful
On November 22, 2015, Dr. Liam Walsh, 33, went missing while skiing on Hatcher Pass in Alaska’s Talkeetna Mountains. After weeks of searching the Hatcher Pass area, he has still not been found. The backcountry skier and anesthesiologist will be remembered fondly by his friends and family.

Walsh was last seen ski touring on Hatcher Pass around 2 PM on November 22. At the time, avalanche conditions were high. The initial search was challenging due to massive storms and touchy avalanche conditions that ultimately buried the Hatcher Pass Road in 12 to 15 feet of avalanche debris.
His friends and family searched the area for days with no luck. It’s sad to say that Liam Walsh is most likely the 2nd avalanche fatality of the 2015/2016 season. We hope his body will be found when the snow melts. RIP.
