On 18 September 2017, 9-year-old Christian “Buddy Backpacker” Thomas finished his section hike of the Continental Divide Trail with his parents Andrea Rego and Dion Pagoni. By completing the CDT, Thomas becomes the youngest person to finish the Triple Crown of Hiking. Congrats!

Completing the Triple Crown of Hiking is no easy feat. This long distance hiking challenge includes completing:
- Appalachian Trail – 2,184 miles | 3515 km
- Continental Divide Trail – 3,100 miles | 5,000 km
- Pacific Crest Trail – 2,654 miles | 4270 km
Thomas completed the Appalachian Trail in 2012 at age 5, the Pacific Crest Trail in 2014 at age 7, and the Continental Divide Trail in 2017 at age 9. Only about 350 people have completed the Triple Crown.
Job well done!
