18-Year-Old Elwyn Roy Freeman Died From Injuries Sustained During A Crash While Competing In The FWQ Competition In La Hoya Argentina

La Hoya Ski Resort, Argentina – FWQ competitor Elwyn Roy Freeman, age 18, suffered serious trauma to his chest when he collided with rocks during his competition line at the Freeride World Qualifier 2* event held at Cerro La Hoya on September 24, 2016. He was taken to the hospital in Esquel where he later died of his injuries. La Hoya was Freeman’s local hill. He was from Trevelin, Argentina.

La Hoya is located in southern Argentina – about 4 hours south of Bariloche. The La Hoya FWQ 2* event took place on a E/SE aspect with a max pitch of 42 degrees. The slope was 360 meters long and dropped 164 meters (1924 m to 1760 m). This was the last freeride event in South America this season.
