TetonGravity.com writes, “Rock climber Samuel Clairmont and two others were rappelling the fourth pitch of Pentapitch when a green sedan opened fire on the exposed individuals from Little Cottonwood’s Vaults Road before speeding away and evading pursuit.” A thread about the incident was started on MountainProject.com by one of the climbers.

According to SLTrib.com, “Climbers at the scene told police they could hear the bullets whizzing by, striking rocks around them.” Unfortunately, the suspects escaped before police arrived. When the police responded to the scene, they found shell casings about 500 feet from the climbers
