The Seven Summits represent the highest points on each of the 7 continents. Are you up for this global peak bagging challenge?

There is some debate as to which peaks make up the Seven Summits. The points of contention are Elbrus vs Mont Blanc for Europe and Kosciuszko vs Puncak Jaya (Carstensz Pyramid) in Australia/Oceania. Due to this debate, there are four possible lists of the main Seven Summits that could potentially include 9 peaks (Everest, Aconcagua, Denali, Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, Mont Blanc, Puncak Jaya, Vinson, Kosciuszko).
Reinhold Messner and Dick Bass compiled the most recognized lists of the 7 Summits:
- Messner’s List: Everest, Aconcagua, Denali, Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, Puncak Jaya, Vinson
- Bass’ List: Everest, Aconcagua, Denali, Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, Kosciuszko, Vinson
Which list of the Seven Summits you choose to pursue is up to you. Add in all of the nine potential peaks and you’ll have lots of bragging rights.
