RECALL: DMM Carabiners
DMM issued a product safety warning on Friday, September 11, 2015 on certain carabiners. This was followed by a product recall notice, subject to user inspection, on Monday September 14, 2015. If you have any DMM carabiners, this may directly affect you.
The recall affects a variety of different carabiners where the “the internal coil spring (which gives the gate its closing action) and the gate pusher (the component that holds the spring against the carabiner body) may cause the gate pusher to displace, potentially preventing the gate from closing or the mechanism from locking completely.”
The recall affects a small percentage of carabiners from the following product lines:
All models, all colours, and all gate types are potentially affected.
To determine if your DMM carabiners are recalled, consult the official DMM Product Recall Notice. It will tell you how to inspect your carabiner, find the serial number, and other important information. This is a must read if you or your climbing partners own any DMM carabiners.
