Ortovox Issues Recall Of All S1+ Avalanche Transceivers
Ortovox is recalling any S1+ avalanche transceivers that were manufactured between 2010 and 2014. If you purchased a Ortovox S1+ avalanche beacon between July 2010 and April 2015 you need to stop using it immediately and contact Ortovox.
According to Ortovox, the precautionary recall affects all S1+ beacons regardless of serial number, year of manufacture, software version, or location of purchase. The original S1 and other Ortovox beacons have no issues.
Ortovox is issuing this recall because in very rare cases, the transmit function can work incorrectly – possibly due to a component failure. There have been zero accidents, but Ortovox is recalling all S1+ avalanche beacons as a precaution.
If you own an Ortovox S1+ avalanche beacon, Ortovox will replace the component. It will assume all costs of shipping and replacement. Contact Ortovox immediately, but they claim beacons will not be fixed until at least July.
