Avalanche Kills Backcountry Skier Between Courchevel And Meribel Near La Tania Ski Resort In The Savoy Region of France

Savoie, France – At approximately 1:30 PM on Saturday, February 13, 2016 an off-piste/backcountry skier died in an avalanche near La Tania at the Col de la Loze at approximately 2270 meters . This area is located between Courchevel and Maribel in Savoie, France.

According to France3, the victim was skiing alone and was not wearing an avalanche beacon. A British tourist responded and supplied first aid. Ski Patrol and the High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon also responded and searched further to verify that there were no additional victims.
