Avalanche Kills Swedish Skier Near Steinberget In Isfjorden, Norway
Romsdal, Norway – On Saturday, April 30, 2016 a 54-year-old Swedish skier was killed in an avalanche between Kavli Setra and Kyrkje Roof on Steinberget near Isfjorden in the Rauma municipality of Møre og Romsdal, Norway.

The man was ski touring with a Swedish friend when the avalanche struck. There was another group of three Norwegians also touring in the area. After the man was buried, the other four ski tourers searched and found the man. CPR was started, but it was unsuccessful. Rescuers flew to the scene by helicopter and transported the man to the hospital by Sea King Helicopter.
Varsom.no reported the avalanche danger in Romsdal as Considerable on Saturday. Regobs.no reported the avalanche as a size 2 avalanche that measured 20-50 cm deep, 300 meters long and 50 meters wide. The terrain was over 40 degrees and convex. It occurred on a South aspect. See photos of the avalanche here.
