Avalanche On Mount Juneau In Juneau, Alaska Caught On Camera

Juneau, Alaska – At approximately 12:52 pm on Thursday, December 29, 2016 a natural avalanche tumbled down Chop Gully near Gold Creek on Mount Juneau near the town of Juneau, Alaska. No people are missing and no property was damaged. It was caught on camera by Jerry Duncan from his office in the Father Andrew P. Kashevaroff State Library, Archives, and Museum.

The following video of the avalanche on Mount Juneau was captured by Jerry Duncan and posted on YouTube.com:

The avalanche may appear big in the video, but authorities are saying the avalanche was quite small. It appears big because it generated an impressive powder cloud as the snow tumbles over a 1000 foot cliff. See a photo of the avalanche path on JuneauEmpire.com.

The avalanche danger at the time was moderate.
