London, England – In May 2017, Profeet Fulham bootfitters Emma Kirk-Odunubi, 24, and Max Willcocks, 34, decided to have a go at beating the world record for the fastest 100 meter in ski boots.
Both Kirk-Odunubi and Willcocks set new world records at the track at Barn Elms in southwest London. Kirk-Odunubi set the record for the fastest female 100 meter while wearing ski boots at 16.86 seconds. Willcocks set the fastest male 100 meter while wearing ski boots at 14.09 seconds. Both athletes/bootfitters beat the old world record of 17.65 seconds set in 2015 by Germany’s Andre Ortlof. The feat was official recognized by Guinness World Records in June 2017. Congratulations!
Kirk-Odunbui and Willcocks used the Atomic Backland ski touring boot for the sprint. The Atomic Backland weighs just 1161 grams per boot. Out of curiosity, what boot would you have used? Tell us in the comments below.
