Nangpai Gosum, Himalaya – At 10:25 AM on October 3, 2017, 25-year-old German mountaineer Jost Kobusch made the 1st ascent of 7296 meter/ 23397 feet Nangpai Gosum II in the Himalaya of Nepal. Nagpai Gosum II was the 4th highest unclimbed peak in the world.
Jost was part of a small team consisting of German Schardt Raphael Rene and a Sherpa support person. They that began their expedition to climb the unclimbed peak on August 14. The rest of the team did not make it above Camp II. Jost made a solo climb from Camp II to the summit.
According to The Adventure Blog, the highly technical peak has only been open to climbers since 2014.
