For mid-November there’s a lot of snow on the ground. The snowflakes are starting to stack up and that’s a good sign that winter is here. Lifts are starting to spin and skin tracks are heading out in search of powder. Anyone else excited for the 2017/2018 winter season? We certainly are!
Let’s take a look at the snow data for the western US compared to normal. Below is the Westwide SNOTEL Current Snow Water Equivalent % of Normal as of November 11, 2017. You can link to the most recent data from the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service here. It’s updated daily throughout the winter.

See how this SNOTEL data compares to past weeks and months in our past Snotel posts.
SnoTel data is one of the best ways to find out where the coverage is above average. Are you already to plan your next skiing adventure? Enjoy the snow – or what’s left of it. Be safe out there.
