Avalanche Kills Ice Climber In Val Gardena In The Dolomites Of Italy

Val Gardena, Italy – On Wednesday, January 24, 2018 a 22-year-old German ice climber was caught, buried and killed in an avalanche while climbing at 1800 meters in the Val di Ciavei area in Vallunga in Val Gardena in the Dolomites in South Tyrol, Italy. The body was located on Friday AM.

The ice climber was descending a frozen waterfall with a German companion at the time of the incident.
