Snowshoer Missing After Avalanche In Samoens In Haute-Savoie In France

Samoens, France – On Sunday, March 4, 2018 a pair of Swiss snowshoers were caught in an avalanche while snowshoeing near the Refuge de Bostan in Samoens in the Haute-Savoie of France. One of the snowshoers is missing.

The woman escaped the avalanche with slight injuries. Unfortunately, her husband is still missing in the slide. Neither of the snowshoers were wearing avalanche transceivers.

The avalanche was 150 meters wide and 200 meters long. Search efforts were paused on Sunday afternoon and will resume on Monday.
