Heiligenblut, Austria – On March 25, 2018 a 54-year-old skier was caught, buried, and killed in an avalanche near the Heiligenblut ski area in the district of Spittal/Drau in Carinthia, Austria.
The skier was solo skiing off piste when the accident occurred. He carried all of the appropriate gear. Rescuers responded and located the victim buried 1.5 meters under the snow. The skier did not survive.
