Champcella, France – On March 22, 2018 a 30-year-old ski tourer was killed in an avalanche while ascending towards the Tete de Vautisse on the Ecrins Massif near Champcella in the Hautes-Alpes of France.

The victim was skiing with one other person when the accident occurred. That individual was buried up to his waist, but was still able to notify authorities about the accident. Rescuers responded to the scene via helicopter
