Togwotee Pass, Wyoming – At approximately 15:30 on April 22, 2018 a 24-year-old snowmobiler was caught, buried, and killed in a wet slab avalanche on a northwest aspect near Mt Leidy west of Togwotee Pass in Wyoming.

The victim’s two friends witnessed the slide. They were able to locate the rider’s snowmobile, but were unable to find the other rider. One of the sledders rode back to the Togwotee Mountain Lodge while the other rider stayed to dig. JHNewsAndGuide.com writes that “The three had one beacon and one shovel among them, according to police reports.”
Rescuers responded to the scene and located the victim within 5 minutes of probing at around 1800 (JHNewsAndGuide.com).
JHAvalanche.org classified the avalanche as AM-WS-R2-D2. It occurred at 10103 feet on a slope that measured 36-40 degrees. They recorded a Lat/Long of 43.703621, -110.369339. The slide measured 24 inches deep. An image of the avalanche is posted at Avalanche.State.co.us.
JHNewsAndGuide.com identified the victim as 24-year-old Taylor Bruggeman of Iowa.
