Ortovox Recalls 3+ Avalanche Transceivers Due to Loss of Emergency Communications Capability

On July 10, 2018 Ortovox issued a recall for approximately 26,355 3+ avalanche transceivers sold in the US and Canada because they can “fail to work properly due to a software error and fail to transmit the position of survivors of an avalanche, resulting in delayed search and rescue operations” (CPSC.gov).

Ortovox issued a precautionary recall of the 3+ avalanche transceivers in May 2018. In July, CPSC.gov and HealthyCanadians.gc.ca posted a recall notice for the Ortovox 3+ avalanche transceivers.

HealthyCanadaians.gc.ca states “This recall involves the Ortovox 3+ Avalanche Transceivers in blue, green and black with software version 2.1. The following model numbers are affected: 1137000001, 1137000002 and 1137000006.
